What is a Patent?

A patent is essentially a limited monopoly whereby the patent holder is granted the exclusive right to make, use, and sell the patented innovation for a limited period of time.Patents are given for innovative and useful products, processes, methods, plant varieties and designs etc. which can be used commercially.  The primary requirements to be met for acquiring a patent- Utility, Novelty, Non-obviousness, Enablement.
